Reporting Solution Development with Pentaho


Who Should Attend:
This course is designed for solution developers, specifically those involved in developing reporting solutions; however, it is valuable to anyone with a basic understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.

Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Understand the reporting tools and architecture of the Pentaho Business Intelligence (BI) Suite
  • Describe the reporting end-user experience with the Pentaho BI Server
  • Build and deploy reporting solutions
  • Use the best practices for deploying Pentaho reporting solutions
  • Develop report templates
  • Employ mass report delivery techniques such as bursting and subscriptions
  • Use relational, Pentaho metadata, OLAP, XML, and Web service data sources in reports
  • Create JavaScript and other business rules in the preparation of reports
  • Develop Pentaho and deploy metadata

Bring Your Own

You will need to bring your laptop to the class to participate in the labs.

We recommend you to bring a Microsoft® Windows XP or Vista computer with a 1GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM, and a DVD drive, and 750 MB of available hard drive space in order to fully participate in the classroom delivered courses. We suggest the computer have at least 1.3 GHz CPU, 2 GB of memory, and 1 GB of available hard drive space. Make sure you have a text editor such as Notepad; you may need it for some of the exercises.

If you prefer to bring a computer with different configuration than mentioned above, please discuss with us how this will affect your training experience.
